The Department of Defense has identified 3,086 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

ARMSTRONG, David C., 21, Pfc., Army; Zanesville, Ohio; 57th Military Police Company, Eighth Military Police Brigade, Eighth Theater Sustainment Command.

AULTZ, Corey J., 31, Sgt., Army; Port Orchard, Wash.; First Infantry Division.

BUTLER, Kenneth T., 21, Pfc., Army; East Liverpool, Ohio; 57th Military Police Company, Eighth Military Police Brigade, Eighth Theater Sustainment Command.

GIST, Milton A. Jr., 27, Sgt., Army; St. Louis; First Infantry Division.

McPEEK, Alan E., 20, Specialist, Army; Tucson; First Armored Division.

ZEIMER, Matthew T., 18, Pvt., Army; Glendive, Mont.; Third Infantry Division.
